About Us
Praying Pelican Missions is unique in the world of short-term missions. Our philosophy is not simply to "do" short-term missions, but to genuinely partner groups from North America with local churches and communities in Belize, Jamaica and Mexico. How do we do this? The answer is that we........
1) Bring each team to a different church community. This involves extra work and a leap of faith on our part, but the opportunity to build genuine relationships with the local community allows for true ministry partnerships to develop.
2) Partner your team with a community that fits you. As we have long-term relationships with Pastors and communities all over Belize, Jamaica and Mexico, we seek their guidance in placing our teams with locations that will suit everyone to maximize ministry opportunities.
3) Recognize that we, as North Americans, have a lot to learn from Belizeans, Jamaicans, and Mexicans. We approach our mission trips as an opportunity to learn from the local community just as much (and usually more!) than the local community learns from us. Christ-centered ministry and partnerships are a two-way street.
4) Encourage communication between cultures and development of relationships above, beyond, and between PPM trips. We at PPM see ourselves as a bridge between cultures.
5) Strive to bring teams that repeat years with PPM (over half of our teams do this) back to the same community to continue development of your long-term relationships. When you connnect spiritually and socially with someone, we want you to have the opportunity to continue those relationships and watch God work through everyone!
